I've not posted for a while because Blogger is having issues with uploading photos. About once a week, I've done the fixes Blogger proposes and then try to post the photos. Nothing happens. Sigh.

In the meantime we've done many things to the property. I now have a well, a septic tank, electricity and phone lines laid. I also have a crawl-space foundation. Pa has buried the trenches and leveled the soil in some areas and is waiting for more dirt to do some filling in and leveling around the foundation. I have photos but no place to post them.

Our big news is that now that spring is well into summer we are seeing more wildlife than ever. Every day we see does, fawns and even a buck or two. Raccoons and squirrels are rampant. The great turtle migration seems to have ended. We've seen coyote on several occasions and while my sister was visiting, we saw a wolf!

My sister came to visit for a week. We shopped, toured, went antiquing, hiked and generally had a good time. Katie was thrilled to visit the Amish saddlery where she got many items for much less than prices she pays in regular tack stores. While rooting around the property looking for fossils and arrowheads, Katie found a genuine American Indian stone hide scraper! How do we know? Because the day before, we'd gone to Truman Dam's Visitor's Center and saw a display of over 8,000 American Indian artifacts!

As they visited over July 4th - we went to see the fireworks over the Dam on July 1. On the actual day I bought Katie $13 worth of half price fireworks and she and Grandpa had a ball for about an hour shooting off bottle rockets, fountains and even a few spinners. They stayed an extra day as they didn't want to go home!

Margaret is now planning to move here if we can find a way to get some property.

It seems we are busy with things every day. Between dogs, gardening (I'm really lackadaisical about this), landscaping some at Echo Ridge, cleaning, exercise, shopping and yard-saling, we keep hopping!

Saturday we are having our own garage sale. Mom and I have worked all this week to get ready. She's selling much of the stuff she's had packed in the garage for the past 6 years. She's also hoping to sell some antiques. We all complain we never make much at garage sales, but I suppose the point is to get it out of the way and let someone else make use of it, if they can. If we make a little money on the side, then that's good, too.

Richard and I have made the decision to stop working on the actual house for the months of August and September. Missouri is being blasted by a heat wave that is only letting up a few days a month. August is being predicted to be hotter than July. Spetember is when I have to pay the taxes. Because Richard is an independent contractor, we have to take care of all taxes, Social Security, FICA and medicare for our only employee...HIM. The IRS has a schedule of payment periods with which I must comply. The amounts are based on estimations of income, so I hope we've guestimated high enough or we'll still owe! (GULP!). The next due date is September and will take most of the income for that month.

Pa and I plan to do some leveling, planting, landscaping and get the well house done...maybe. LOL. With our tendency to run off to do some animal watching or fishing or canoeing or picnics, who knows? LOL

Pa's back from a yardsale - I'm racing out to see what he picked up!
